Austrian born Shmuel Katz was a holocaust survivor who immigrated to Israel as a member of the 'First of May' nucleus group of Hashomer Hatzair. He had an illustrious career as an illustrator, cartoonish and artist known for his watercolor paintings of Jerusalem.
